Jersey’s out of hours GP service, run by Jersey Doctors On Call will move from Newgate Street to the Emergency Department on the Parade.
It’s part of a three month trial to make it more accessible for those who need urgent non-emergency treatment. It’s part of the new joining of community and hospital health care.
Dr Daniel Albert, Clinical Lead of JDOC, said “We believe that having the out-of-hours service in its new location will raise its profile and make it easier for patients who require an urgent GP appointment to access it.”
The Emergency Department will continue to treat those with ailments such as serious injuries and major bites or cuts, as well as emergencies such as chest pains, strokes, breathing difficulties and severe bleeding.
Appointments can be made by phone – by dialling 445445 – to see a GP at the hospital every day of the year at the following times:
- 6pm-11pm Mondays to Fridays
- 12noon-11pm Saturdays
- 8am-11pm Sundays and Public Holidays.
Users of the service can ask for a home visit out of normal GP hours. It’s a chargeable servic run by local GPs on a rota basis.
Local residents with a health card pay £56 for an appointment, £112 for a daytime home visit and £143 for an overnight visit.
