Last year the most popular A-Level subject taken by the island’s sixth form students was Art and Design with 145 students, second was English Literature with 111.
The information came from a freedom of information request asking for the number of entries on an A-Level course each year for the past three years. In 2016 the most popular course was History with 132 entrance followed by Psychology with 124.
In 2015 the most popular course was once again art and design with 154 entrance followed by English Literature with 135 people enrolling.
The figures don’t include any specifics for courses features fewer than 10 entrance due to data protection laws. Last year there were three courses with feature than ten students – Italian, Home Economics and German.
The subject that saw the biggest increase on last year was Media/Film and Television Studies which went from 68 in 2016 to 107 last year.
